A 90-YEAR-OLD man missing for more than a week has been found dead in his car, 370km away.
The elderly man’s family reported him missing last Thursday, January 17 after he failed to return to his home at Nelson Bay, north of Newcastle.
Police from Port Stephens Hunter Police District immediately began looking for the man and his car but despite conducting an extensive search of the area, neither could be found.

Sadly, police today confirmed the 90-year-old man was found dead inside his car at Raleigh, 370km north of Nelson Bay early this morning.
Police said a passing motorist raised the alarm after spotting the man’s car down an embankment near the on-ramp to the Pacific Highway about 6am.
While inquiries into the man’s death continue, police say it is not being treated as suspicious.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
