Missing man found dead in NSW river

THE body of a man who went missing after falling into the Richmond River at Woodburn has been found.

Emergency services were called to the small highway town about 7.30pm on Tuesday following reports a 45-year-old man had fallen into the river and hadn’t been seen since.

A search of the river and riverbank began, and at 10am today, the man’s body was located in the river.

Police have been told the deceased man may have been sleeping rough on the riverbank in the company of another man.

A 43-year-old man has since been arrested and charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

As the investigation continues, police are now trying to piece together the movements of the man prior to his death.
