Missing man found dead in NSW creek, detectives take over investigation

A MAN who was reported missing five days ago has been found dead in a creek near Batemans Bay.

Anthony Collins, 37, was reported missing last Saturday, 15 April. He was last seen at the country club at Catalina the evening before (Friday) but failed to board the courtesy bus home at 7.30pm.

Sadly, police released a statement today (Thursday), confirming Mr Collins’ body was in fact found in a creek on Beach Road at Batehaven on Tuesday morning.

Detectives have now established Strike Force Thurston to investigate the circumstances surrounding Mr Collins’ death.

While investigators await the results of a post-mortem examination to determine his cause of death, they are appealing for information to help piece together Mr Collins’ movements on Friday night.

In particular, they would like to speak with anyone who may have seen him leave the country club.

Mr Collins’ is described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 175cm tall, of medium build, with light brown hair, with a receding hairline; and blue eyes.

He was last seen wearing a dark-coloured jumper over a darker-coloured collared shirt, sand-coloured pants, and light brown shoes.
