Missing swimmer’s body pulled from surf on Gold Coast
Police have confirmed the body of a man, who went missing in dangerous surf on the Gold Coast following a late-night swim with a female friend, has been found.
The man and woman were last seen entering the water at Kurrawa in Broadbeach around 9.30pm on Thursday.
The body of the 29-year-old woman from Victoria was found washed up a short time later, but the man was nowhere to be seen.
Police launched a major air and sea search for the missing man yesterday, with officers admitting the search had turned into a “recovery mission”, conceding hopes of finding him alive had faded.
Around 6.00pm on Friday, swimmers made the grim discovery, pulling a body from the water at Narrowneck.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
