WATCH: Mongols bikie associate charged after wild Gold Coast chase

A known bikie associate has been arrested on the Gold Coast, after he was caught driving dangerously with a gun on board last night.

The 38-year-old was allegedly driving a white Holden Commodore with stolen plates, when he failed to stop for police at Clifford Street in Surfers Paradise just after 7.00pm.

Around 9.00pm, the same car was spotted along Hooker Boulevard in Broadbeach, where PolAir began to track it.

Police say the vehicle was seen travelling northbound at high speeds and on the wrong side of the road at times.

A Tyre Deflation Device was successfully deployed on Oxley Drive at Runaway Bay, but the vehicle continued to be driven at high speeds with its lights off along Brisbane Road heading towards the M1.

The chase came to an end when the Commodore slammed into a stationary police car that was blocking Siganto Drive in Helensvale.

The car rammed the police vehicle, before the driver was arrested around 9.30pm.

A search of the vehicle allegedly located approximately $48,065 in cash, a firearm and a quantity of amphetamine.

A 38-year-old man from Nundah has been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, evade, driving while disqualified, possession of a dangerous drug, possession of utensil, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of crime, unlawful possession of a weapon and suspected stolen property.

Police say he’s a known associate of the Mongols Outlaw Motorcycle Gang.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.

Investigations are continuing.
