Police are hunting a croc killer after a monster saltie was found shot dead in the Fitzroy river near Rockhampton yesterday.
Queensland Police posted a photo of the 5.2m croc on social media on Friday in the hope of tracking down the person responsible.
In the post, they reminded the community that it’s a crime to kill the reptiles.

“It is a crime to kill crocodiles – they are protected under Queensland law. If anyone has any information about who did this – call police,” they wrote.
The croc was found with a single gunshot wound to the head.
Investigations are ongoing.
