Man seriously injured in Gold Coast crash, traffic thrown into disarray

A MAN has been rushed to hospital with serious head injuries following a nasty crash that has thrown traffic into disarray at Bundall on the Gold Coast.

Police said the man was on a moped and collided with a car on Upton Street shortly before 3pm on Friday.

The man was thrown off the scooter and onto the road, leaving him with serious head and hip injuries.


He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Gold Coast University Hospital.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson told myGC the man was transported in a serious condition.

Upton Street has been closed to all traffic in both directions while investigations are carried out.

Police have confirmed the Forensic Crash Unit is making its way to the scene.

The incident has triggered extensive delays through the area, with traffic heading south on Bundall Road backed up to Ferry Road in Southport.

The eastbound lanes of Ashmore Road are also jammed.

Motorists are being urged to steer clear of the area if they can.
