Residents in New Zealand have been woken by a magnitude 4.1 earthquake.
The quake struck 20km south of Wellington, at about 3.30am this morning.
According to GeoNet, it hit at a depth of 38km, with more than 1244 people reporting they felt the quake.

Dozens of people took to social media to describe the moment they were woken by the tremor.
“Well that shudder woke me up,” one person wrote.
“Thought the windows were about to implode then!” commented another.
