More storms smash already flooded UK

Storm Frank has brought torrential rain and gale force winds to batter northern Britain cutting power to thousands of homes and forcing some to evacuate flooded streets in the third major storm in a month.

Widespread flooding across northern Britain has turned streets into raging torrents, forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes and destroyed many historic buildings including a bridge dating back to 1700.

The Environment Agency says Britain had faced an extraordinary period of severe weather and flooding in December, with fears losses could pass $6 billion.


Around 6700 properties have flooded in northern England in the last week as river levels reached all time highs, while three severe flood warnings remain in place, meaning there is a danger to life.
