Power restored to homes across Gold Coast following outage

UPDATE @ 5.45 PM | Power has almost been restored to more than 1000 homes on the Gold Coast following a major outage this afternoon.

It’s believed downed powerlines could be to blame for the power outage.

Almost 300 homes and businesses in Mudgeeraba are still in darkness, with a few homes in Neranwood and Austinville also affected.

Earlier, more than 1100 homes were blacked out.

EARLIER @ 5.00 PM | There’s been a major power outage across the Gold Coast this afternoon.

More than 1000 homes have been thrown into darkness with a number of suburbs affected.

At least 469 homes and businesses in Springbrook are blacked out, while almost 300 properties in Mudgeeraba are also without power.

Numinbah Valley, Currumbin Valley, Austinville, Forest Lake, Natural Bridge and Neranwood are also affected.

It’s not yet known what has caused the outage, however Energex says crews are on scene working to fix the issue.
