Morgan Freeman accused of harassment by eight women

American Actor Morgan Freeman has issued an apology after it was reported by CNN that a number of women had accused the Oscar-winner of inappropriate behavior.

The US broadcaster is understood to have interviewed eight women who allege they were subjected to “harassment” and “inappropriate behaviour” by the Hollywood star.

“In all, 16 people spoke to CNN about Freeman as part of this investigation, eight of whom said they were victims of what some called harassment and others called inappropriate behaviour by Freeman,” the report said.

According to CNN, the alleged inappropriate behaviour occurred “on set, while promoting his movies and at his production company Revelations Entertainment.”

Shortly after the article went live, Freeman issued a statement addressing the accusations via his publicist.

“Anyone who knows me or has worked with me knows I am not someone who would intentionally offend or knowingly make anyone feel uneasy,” Freeman said.

“I apologize to anyone who felt uncomfortable or disrespected – that was never my intent.”
