A WOMAN has been charged after she allegedly left her two-year-old son asleep in the family car while she attended a house auction on Sydney’s Northern Beaches yesterday.

Police say the two-year-old boy was found sleeping in a black Holden SUV parked in a car park at Freshwater Beach.

“A surf lifesaver opened the car doors to allow air to circulate through the vehicle, while another passerby contacted emergency services,” a police spokesperson said.

“The boy woke up during this time and did not appear to be injured.”

Police from Northern Beaches Local Area Command attended the scene and attempted to locate the child’s parents who were found at a house auction about 300m away.

The toddler’s 40-year-old mother was served a Future Court Attendance Notice to appear at Manly Local Court on Wednesday 16 December 2015, for the offence of leaving a child unattended in a motor vehicle causing emotional distress.

Why wasn’t the father charged also? Did I miss the law that says Mums are more responsible for the kids than Dads…? I’m genuinely interested to know…
