Mother charged after baby allegedly ate ICE found in NSW home

A woman is due to face court in NSW today after her baby boy fell extremely ill after allegedly eating a stash of ICE found in the family home.

Police said the 21-month-old was admitted to Wollongong Hospital in January this year, suffering severe seizures.

Tests on the youngster revealed he had consumed the drug ‘ice’ with detectives informed that the boy had slept alone in his mother’s room the previous evening, where it was possible he had access to prohibited drugs.

Acting on information, officers executed a search warrant at the young boy’s home, seizing methylamphetamine, cannabis, cathinone, buprenorphine and drug paraphernalia.

The baby’s 27-year-old mother was charged with abandon/expose child under seven, cause danger of death; and six counts of possess prohibited drug.

She is due to face Port Kembla Local Court today.

The young boy is in the care of NSW Department of Family and Community Services.
