Mother charged with murder after trying to blame toddler for killing baby

A WOMAN has been arrested and charged with murdering her nine-month-old baby boy in NSW.

The tiny tot was found unresponsive at the family home near Dareton, in the state’s far west last year.

Paramedics rushed the infant to Muldura Base Hospital in a critical condition on Tuesday, October 31.

The little fella was then airlifted to The Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne for specialist treatment.

Sadly, his injuries were too severe and, despite the best efforts of doctors, died the following day.

At the time, police were told the baby’s 22-month-old brother had jumped on him, causing the injuries.

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad established Strike Force Pembrook to investigate the claims and probe all circumstances surrounding the death.

Following extensive investigations, the boy’s 32-year-old mother was arrested on Thursday morning.

She has been charged with murder and has been refused bail to appear in Wentworth Local Court on May 9.
