Motorcyclist airlifted to hospital after horror crash on the Sunshine Coast

A MAN has been airlifted to hospital in a critical condition following a horror crash in the Sunshine Coast hinterland.

The man was riding a motorcycle along Mooloolah Connection Road in the Mooloolah Valley on Saturday morning when he lost control and crashed into a guardrail just before 11:30am.

It’s understood the man, aged in his mid-50s, suffered life-threatening head injuries.

The Sunshine Coast based RACQ LifeFlight Rescue helicopter was dispatched to the scene but due to the location of the crash, it was forced to land on a nearby cricket oval.

The man was treated at the scene by the LifeFlight medical team before being transported to the waiting helicopter by ambulance.

He has since been airlifted to the Royal Brisbane and Woman’s Hospital where he remains this afternoon in a critical condition.

Motorists are being warned to expect delays in the area while the Forensic Crash Unit examines the scene.
