Motorcyclist ‘critical’ after shocking M1 crash

A motorcyclist is fighting for life in hospital after a horror crash on the M1.

Emergency services were called to the northbound lanes of the motorway at Pimpama just after 11pm on Friday night.

Witnesses report the male rider lost control at speed before coming off his bike.


The 25-year-old man was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition with head, chest and limb injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the accident.

It was one of several serious accidents across the Gold Coast on Friday night.

One person was taken to hospital in a stable condition after a car crashed into a tree on Gemvale Rd at Mudgeeraba around 11pm.

A female teenager also ended up in hospital after a crash on Old Coach Rd near Coomera Springs Boulevard at Upper Coomera just after 7.30pm.
