Motorcyclist killed after losing control and striking street sign

A YOUNG man has tragically died after losing control of his motorbike and ploughing into a street sign in Queensland’s Central Highlands.

It happened in the mining town of Blackwater around 10.30pm last night.

In a statement, police said the 25-year-old man appeared to have been riding along Stower Street when, for reasons unknown, he lost control of his motorbike and crashed into a sign near Mackenzie Street.

The man from Mount Tyson sustained life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Blackwater Hospital.

Sadly, his injuries were too severe and he could not be saved. Police confirmed the man was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.

The Forensic Crash unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
