Motorcyclist killed after crashing head-on with ute while overtaking

A motorcyclist has been killed after crashing head-on into a dual cab ute while trying to overtake another motorcyclist in the NSW Hunter region.

Police said the 38-year-old male motorcyclist was attempting to overtake another motorcyclist on Stoud Hill Road at Nooroo, near Dungog, at around 10am on Sunday when he collided with the oncoming ute.

The 38-year-old man died at the scene.

The male rider of the second motorcycle was also knocked off his bike.

He was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to John Hunter Hospital with a suspected fractured leg.

The two occupants of the utility were treated at the scene for shock and taken to Maitland Hospital for treatment.

The male driver will also undergo mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
