Motorists reminded of temporary Pacific Motorway off-ramp closure

MOTORISTS are reminded that the Pacific Motorway off-ramp at Worongary will be closed to all northbound traffic this weekend to allow for major ramp works to be carried out effectively.

The off-ramp at Exit 77 will be closed from 8pm tonight (Friday February 21) to 5am on Monday, February 24.

Transport and Main Roads Regional Direction Paul Noonan said the works were part of the $95.5 million project to widen the motorway from four to six lanes between the Worongary and Mudgeeraba interchange.

“The works will be carried out over the weekend to minimise the disruption to regular weekday commuters,” Mr Noonan said.

“For safety reasons, the northbound off-ramp at Worongary (Exit 77) will be closed to all traffic for the entire weekend.”

Appropriate traffic signs and regular alerts will be used to remind motorists to exit the motorway using either the Mudgeeraba off-ramp at Exit 79 or the Carrara interchange at Exit 75.

The temporary weekend closure will ensure earthworks and pavement works are carried out safely and within a shorter time frame.

Wet weather may impact on the construction schedule and because of this motorists are encouraged to visit TMR’s travel and traffic information website at www.131940.qld.gov.au or call 131940 for up-to-date traffic reports.

The Pacific Motorway upgrade between Worongary and Mudgeeraba is on track for completion in mid-2014, weather permitting.
