MP calls to have park named after Jeff Horn

South Brisbane Labor MP Duncan Pegg wants a park to be renamed in Jeff Horn’s honour.

The Queensland boxer rose to stardom after beating Manny Pacquiao for the WBO Welterweight belt on July 2.

There has been talk of Horn having a statue built outside Suncorp Stadium, but Pegg would like him recognised in a more community-friendly way and has sponsored a petition of Queensland Parliament to name a park in Jeff’s honour.

“Jeff’s journey to become the world champ started many years ago at the Stretton Boxing Club where he trains under Glen Rushton,” says the petition.

“The Stretton Community Park is a short distance from where Jeff has trained for so many years and renaming this park in his honour would be a well deserved recognition for this local champion.”
