Multi vehicle crash cripples Gold Coast motorway

A MULTI-vehicle crash has crippled the Pacific Motorway on the Gold Coast.

It’s understood the accident happened in the northbound lanes near Exit 69 at Nerang around 5pm.

There are reports up to three vehicles collided in the inside ‘fast’ lane, with one car landing on its roof.

The incident has halted traffic and triggered extensive delays for traffic heading in both directions.

Southbound traffic is backed up for at least 10 kiloemtres.

It’s slow-moving also for those heading north, with bumper-to-bumper conditions stretching for at least four kilometres.

Three ambulances were seen trying to negotiate their way through the traffic jam to get to the scene of the accident.

It was not immediately clear how many people if any were injured in the smash.

Motorists have been urged to steer clear of the area.
