Multiple infringements issued in Gold Coast police operation

Gold Coast Police have arrested a person over knife possession in an operation targeting antisocial and criminal behaviour across the public transport system.

Operation Romeo Luminous ran from 2.00pm until 10.00pm yesterday, and saw officers conduct a high-visibility roving patrol of trains, the light rail, buses, transport hubs and shopping centres.

It was a collective operation including teams from Coomera, Robina, Gold Coast RAP, Railway Squad and District Tasking and Coordination Centre (DTACC).

Together they issued four move on directions, 37 fare evasion warnings, 6 fair evasion infringement notices, and two notices to appear for fair evasion.

During the 8-hour operation, only one arrest was made, in relation to possession of a knife.
