Two dead after shooting at Colorado Walmart store
UPDATE @ 12.45pm: TWO people are dead and one person has been injured in a shooting at a Walmart store in Thornton, Colorado.
The Thornton Police Department confirmed the tragic news in a statement posted on social media a short time ago.
“(2) confirmed deceased adult males, (1) adult female transported,” authorities wrote.
Officers initially tweeted “Multiple parties down. Please stay away from the area,” following the shooting, which took place just before 6.30pm Wednesday local time.
It’s not known yet whether the shooter/s have been taken into custody, however police confirmed it was no longer an active shooter situation.
EARLIER @ 11.30am: SEVERAL people have reportedly been shot in an incident at a Walmart store in Thornton, Colorado.
The Thornton Police Department issued a short statement online, saying “multiple parties [were] down”.
“Shooting just occurred at Walmart, 9900 Grant St, multiple parties down. Please stay away from the area,” police wrote.
The store has since been evacuated and a major police operation is underway.
The shooter/s are believed to be at large.
US President Donald Trump has taken to Twitter, urging locals to remain vigilant in the area.
I just got briefed on the Colorado Walmart shooting. I urge everyone in the area to stay vigilant and heed the advice of their local officials. Melania and I send our sincerest thoughts and prayers to those who may be affected by the tragedy.
