‘Multiple people’ gunned down outside nightclub

FOUR people have been rushed to hospital, two of them in a critical condition, after being shot outside a nightclub in Melbourne.

The victims were gunned down outside the Love Machine nightclub on the corner of Little Chapel Street and Malvern Road in Prahran early on Sunday morning.

It’s understood a volley of shots was fired towards the club from a passing car just after 3am, striking four men.

A 28-year-old man and another man who is yet to be identified both sustained life-threatening gunshot wounds and are fighting for their lives in hospital.

Two other men, aged 29 and 50, were also shot and have been taken to hospital with what police have described as non-life-threatening injuries.

It’s understood at least one man, believed to be a security guard, was shot in the face.

The bullets were reportedly fired from a stolen black Porsche Cayenne, The Age reports.

It’s understood the music was so loud inside the club that patrons and staff inside were oblivious to the shooting.

While the motive for the attack is not yet known, detectives are believed to be investigating links to an outlaw motorcycle gang which, according to the Sydney Morning Herald, has made extortion attempts on the nightclub.

In a statement, Victoria Police said the exact circumstances surround the shooting were still being established.

No arrests have been made.

Police are urging people to avoid the area, which remains cordoned off, while the scene is forensically examined.

Those with video footage of the incident or information that could assist police with their investigation are urged to come forward and call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or make a confidential report online.

March was the deadliest month for shootings in Victoria in a decade, with five people shot and killed in Melbourne in four separate shooting in less than a fortnight.
