THE mother of a three-year-old boy who drowned in a backyard pool after being left home alone for more than 14 hours in the U.S. state of Georgia has been charged with murder.
It’s understood neighbours called 911 after the toddler was found unresponsive in an above-ground swimming pool behind the family’s Cartersville home at around 1.30pm on Monday.
Authorities arrived at the house to find the 32-year-old mother-of-four performing CPR on her son, but by that time the toddler had turned blue and was not breathing.

Sadly, the three-year-old boy had spent too much time underwater without oxygen and could not be revived.
It’s alleged the woman had left the three-year-old home alone with his four-year-old brother and two younger twin brothers for more than 14 hours before returning home to find him in the pool.
She has since been charged with one count of felony murder and four counts of first-degree cruelty to children.
Her three other sons were removed from her home and placed in protective custody.
