Mum critical, baby seriously hurt in crash north of Brisbane

A mum is fighting for life and her baby has serious injuries after the family was involved in a car accident north of Brisbane.

Police say they were travelling west along Anzac Avenue at 4:30AM when their car left the road and went down an embankment.  It clipped a concrete pylon and landed in a creek between Brays Road and the Bruce Highway at Kallangur.

The driver of the vehicle, a 25-year-old man, was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A baby was taken to the Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital with serious injuries.

A 35-year-old woman was trapped in the vehicle for some time, and has since been taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
