MURDER: Australian woman jailed for spiking friends coffee with cyanide
Australian woman Jessica Wongso has been jailed for 20 years for the cruel murder of her friend Wayan Mirna Salihin.
The 28-year-old was found guilty of murder in an Indonesian court on Thursday.
The court heard Ms Wongso deliberately spiked her friends iced coffee with cyanide whilst they dined out at a cafe in Jakarta in January. She died just hours after ingesting the first sip.
Local media say the motive behind the murder was jealousy.
It’s alleged Ms Wongso was envious of her friends relationship after having gone through a complicated breakup with a man in Australia.
She was sentenced to 20 years behind bars in Indonesia, however that sentence will be reduced by the time she has already served.
