Murder investigation underway after Qld woman dies from brutal assault
A murder investigation is underway after a woman died from horrific injuries sustained during an assault at a home in north Queensland overnight.
Around 12.15am, police were called to a house on Innes Street, Deeragun after receiving reports a woman had been assaulted at the address.
Neighbours had phoned emergency services after hearing a disturbance at the home sometime after midnight.
On arrival, a 59-year-old woman was treated for her injuries however despite desperate attempts by paramedics, she died at the scene.

Detectives and specialist police services are currently at the home, where a crime scene has been established.
There is no further information available at this stage.
