DETECTIVES have renewed their appeal for public help after a young woman attending a friends wedding on the Gold Coast plunged to her death from the highrise balcony of a man she’d just met through an online dating site.
Warriena Tagpuno Wright, 26, of Lower Hutt, New Zealand travelled alone to Australia on Tuesday July 29 and planned to stay for two weeks.
It’s understood Ms Wright met 28-year-old Gold Coast man Gable Tostee through dating app Tinder before arranging to meet with him at his Avalon apartment in Surfers Paradise last Thursday night, July 7.

The pair were reportedly seen drinking and talking on the balcony before a disturbance was allegedly heard coming from inside the unit.
Around 2.20am the following morning, Ms Wright was killed after she fell 14 storeys from Mr Tostee’s balcony.
Neighbours called police, but by the time they arrive, Mr Tostee had gone. He handed himself into police a few hours later and after hours of questioning, was released without charge.
He’s known to police, having masterminded a $30,000 fake identification trade in 2004 where around 500 fake 18+ ID cards were sold to underage Schoolies. He was also found to be in the process of making counterfeit fifty dollar notes.
His lawyer then described him as suffering from a severe obsessive-compulsive disorder.
Investigations into how Ms Wright came to fall from Mr Tostee’s balcony are continuing.
Detectives yesterday seized CCTV footage from the entrance of a gated housing complex at Carrara where Mr Tostee’s parents live, as they attempt to piece together where he was at the time of the incident.
Police want to speak with anyone who met Warriena since her arrival or has any information about her activities, movements or companions whilst in Australia.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who may have any information which could assist the police investigation to contact Gold Coast police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
