A major investigation is underway after the body of a woman was found on the side of the Pacific Motorway in Coomera overnight.
Police made the grim discovery around 9.30pm after being called to reports a car was parked dangerously southbound near Exit 54.
Upon arrival, officers found the vehicle had sustained a significant amount of damage.

They then searched the area and found the body of a 32-year-old woman a few kilometres away from the vehicle.
The driver of the car, a a 31-year-old man, was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
Police are now investigating the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death and are appealing for help from the public.
In particular, detectives are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage between exits 49 to 54 (southbound) between 8.30pm and 9.40pm on Saturday to contact them.
It’s not known if the woman and driver of the vehicle were known to each other.
