Narrow escape after house and cabin fire on Gold Coast

A man has escaped serious injury after a house fire in Currumbin Valley early this morning.

Emergency services were called to the private residence on Tomewin Mountain Road just after 4.00am, following reports a cabin had caught fire.

When fire fighters arrived at the scene, a small house was on fire as well as the attached cabin.

Both were well involved when emergency services arrived.

A man was lucky to escape the blaze, and was treated briefly at the scene.

He suffered minor burns to his hands, and his hair was a bit singed, and was taken to Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.

Four crews were still on the scene as of 6.20am.

Fire investigators will be return to the scene later this morning, to determine the cause of the blaze.

No other injuries were reported in the incident.
