National Easter road toll at nine
A MAN has died when his car veered off the road and hit a power pole at Logan in the early hours of this morning.
Police were called to Wembley Road around 3:30am, after a man in his 50’s crossed from the eastbound to the westbound lanes, hit a light pole and crashed into bushland.
He died at the scene a short time later and police will continue to investigate how the accident happened.
It brings the nation’s Easter road toll to nine, with two of those in Queensland alone.
Yesterday, a cyclist was killed instantly when he was struck by a car on Sydney’s north shore.
The previous night, there was another fatality in New South Wale, when a car collided with a truck at Tyndale.
These latest deaths follow earlier tragedies in Western Australia, Tasmania and Queensland.
