Nature’s light show brings much needed rain

GOLD Coast gardens are getting a good soak and pools are filling up in time for Christmas, thanks to some much-needed rain.

A good ol’ fashioned Queensland storm rolled over the region on Friday night, providing a stunning light show.

The heavy rain started around 9pm, dumping 4.2mm of rain in Surfers Paradise within half an hour.

While the southern suburbs got an even better drenching, with 8mm recorded in Coolangatta at 9pm. A further 3mm fell before sunrise.

Showers are forecast to continue throughout today and storms are also expected.

The wet weather has also brought some relief from the sweltering heat. However, there will be a return of sunny, hot conditions on Monday.
