NAVY helicopters will be flying over Surfers Paradise beach today as the Navy Australian Surf Rowers League season launches.
Over 100 crews, consisting of roughly 450 surf rowers and 55 surfboats from Surf Life Saving Clubs across Australia will take part.
The series consists of 30 events around Australia from September 2014 to February 2015 held on some of the country’s premier beaches.

The competition has been running since 1992 and currently has over 3,000 members from over 260 clubs which make up over 550 crews competing nationally each year.
The contest is one of Australia’s premier surf boat racing events.
