Nerang business destroyed by suspicious blaze

Police will return to a Nerang business this morning after it went up in flames on Wednesday night.

Emergency crews were called to the Lawrence Drive motorbike business around 11.15pm.

When they arrived they found the building fully engulfed in flames.

It took 45 firefighters to bring the fire under control.

Police have labelled the blaze as suspicious and fire investigators will begin forensic examination of the site later this morning.

“We haven’t determined if there was accelerants inside … but due to the amount of fuel that’s in the motorbikes, it has been a very aggressive large fire,” a fire fighter at the scene told Nine.

Police have closed off the street near the business and are turning traffic around.

Motorists are being urged to avoid the area.

Police urge anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area, or who may have any other information that could assist in their investigations to contact Crime Stoppers or Policelink.
