Netflix wants to follow Instagrammers around Byron Bay for new TV show

Watch out Netflix binge-a-holics, the TV-streaming gods have announced a new show to be filmed in our own influencer-laden backyard of Byron Bay.

We’re not too sure how to feel about the announcement of the latest ‘docu-soap’, which will follow the lives of a bunch of social media stars as they go about their lives on the NSW north coast.

Here’s the best part: it’s set to be called ‘Byron Baes’.

What is a ‘docu-soap’ we all ask collectively? a TV series in which the lives of real people are filmed and presented as entertainment or drama.

Most Aussies are familiar with the lifestyle that is Byron Bay; no shoes, plenty of surf, ‘Cheer Up, Slow Down, Chill Out’ – we get it.

However, this series is set to follow all the Instagram personalities that we know and love/hate, and it’s bound to be filled to the brim with very un-chill DRAMA!

No word yet on WHO will be featured in the show, but there’s word that the executive producer has worked with Married at First Sight and the Real Housewives of Sydney so the sky is the limit as to the amount of drama we’re about to watch unfold in the sleepy lil’ beach town.

“It is a truth universally acknowledged that an influencer in possession of a good follower count must be in want of a beach backdrop (for the ’gram)⁣⁣,” Netflix teases in its Instagram post this morning.

“This is our love letter to Byron Bay. It’s not just Chris and Zac’s backyard, it’s the playground of more celebrity-adjacent-adjacent influencers than you can poke a selfie-stick at. ⁣⁣⁣

“But PLOT TWIST: don’t write these Baes off too quickly. There’ll be fights, flings and heartbreak; but beneath every perfect post is a very real desire not just for ‘likes’ but to be liked, dammit, for who you are (so relatable).

“Can the Baes survive summer without a collab going wrong? Byron’s the kind of paradise that makes it all feel possible.”
