New anti-terror laws expected next week

A new suite of anti-terror laws are expected to be introduced into Federal Parliament next week.

It is understood police will be able to secretly search the homes of terrorism suspects without the occupants’ knowledge.

The laws may also see radical preachers who incite terrorist acts jailed for up to five years.

It is understood Foreign Minister Julie Bishop could be able to designate Middle-East locations as banned travel areas.

Anyone who travels to these areas without valid reasons may face charges.

The laws follow mass anti-terror raids in Sydney and Brisbane, as well as a heightened national terror threat level.
