A new COVID-19 case has been detected in northern NSW, sparking fears for the QLD-NSW border bubble.
Northern NSW Local Health District confirmed the new infection had been picked up in the Lismore area yesterday.
“Known contacts of the case are being contacted to get tested immediately and self-isolate,” the health department said in a statement.

It’s understood the person attended a school in Goonellabah on Monday, 13 September.
As a result, the school has been closed today to undergo a deep clean.
“NNSWLHD is working with the NSW Department of Education to advise parents and pupils, and the school will be closed from Thursday, 16 September,” they said.
Investigations into the source of the case are continuing.
NSW Authorities are urging anyone in the area with even the mildest of symptoms of COVID-19 to get tested and self-isolate until a negative test result is received.
