New NRL shoulder charge laws could come under review after three cases dismissed

ALEX HEINKE reports.

The NRL’s new and controversial shoulder charge laws will receive heavy pressure after Issac Luke, Jorge Taufua and Aidan Guerra all escaped bans over the controversial tackle at the league’s judiciary on Wednesday night.

It took 12 minutes to excuse Luke who faced a grade-one shoulder charge count for his hit on Johnathan Thurston in the Rabbitohs’ big win over North Queensland last week in Townsville.

The same panel took just three minutes to find Taufua not guilty of an alleged shoulder charge on Jack Wighton and six minutes to dismiss the case against Guerra.

Also in the judiciary, Rooster’s Blake Ferguson was also found not guilty of a tripping charge.
