Ignorance is no excuse, that is the message for pool owners, with new fencing laws coming into effect Tuesday.
Phil Denman from the Queensland Building and Construction Commission recommends downloading their APP.
He explained that after downloading the application people could “actually walk around their pool with a lap top or a tablet, it’s quite informative and intuitive”.

“You can just go through and make sure that for example that your fence is at least 1200 millimetres high above ground, there’s no more than 100 millimetres below the fence”.
Mr Denman added that checking the pool gate is a must. “To make sure that it’s operating correctly and it can open to a full extent and close from all positions”.
“The pool gate seems to be the number one complaint we receive in terms of non-compliant pool barriers”.
