New Prince album revealed on what would have been his 60th birthday
Prince fans around the world have taken to social media to pay tribute to the musical genius on what would have been his 60th birthday.
A flood of song lyrics, iconic images and memories are being shared on Twitter and Facebook.
While the estate of the late singer-songwriter, who died in 2016 of an accidental overdose, has used the date to make a big announcement.
It’s confirmed, a new album of previously unreleased recordings, currently titled Piano and a Microphone 1983, will be coming out in September.

In a statement, Troy Carter, Prince’s estate adviser, confirmed it will feature nine tracks recorded at Prince’s home.
“This raw, intimate recording which took place at the start of Prince’s career right before he achieved international stardom, is similar in format to the Piano & A Microphone Tour that he ended his career with in 2016,” Carter explains.
“The Estate is excited to be able to give fans a glimpse of his evolution and show how his career ultimately came full circle with just him and his piano.”
The album will be the first official posthumous release from Prince’s estate following his death.
