THE Gold Coast’s newest Woolworths store officially opened its doors last night at Pimpama Junction Shopping Village, with hundreds of locals attending to check out the new store and enjoy free food and entertainment.
The crowd was entertained by a balloonist, musical trio and fruit carver, and was served free fresh pizza slices from a wood fire pizza oven, as a sample of the menu on offer in the new in-store pizza bar.
More than 100 people are expected to be employed at the store which covers 2,714 square metres and will include 18 traditional, express and self serve checkouts.

The festivities will continue this Saturday July 5 from 10am, with the official opening of Pimpama Junction on Yawalpah Road.
Pimpama Junction was developed by Tipalea Partners, with managing director Scott Spanton saying that the success of Woolworths’ opening was a great sign for the weekend ahead.
“It has made a huge difference for the Pimpama community to have not only a supermarket but a whole shopping village with 22 specialty stores on their doorstep – it’s an added convenience for families,” he said.
“This weekend will be an even bigger celebration to launch the whole shopping village – with all traders expected to be up and running to support the fantastic range of entertainment, activities and prizes available this Saturday.
“We will have a jumping castle, face painter, balloon artist, sausage sizzle and up to $3,000 worth of shopping vouchers to give away.
Pimpama Junction is the only retail precinct on the eastern side of the highway in the northern Gold Coast corridor.
