New Zealand airport evacuated after bomb scare on Qantas plane

UPDATE 2.30PM: Police say they have found no evidence of a bomb on board a Sydney Qantas passenger jet that landed at Queenstown Airport in New Zealand a short time ago.

The terminal was evacuated after a cleaner reportedly found a threatening note on Qantas flight QF121 around 3pm local time after the passengers had disembarked.

The note reportedly mentioned something about a bomb.

Staff altered police, prompting a major emergency response with scores of officers descending on the airport.

Authorities say police conducted a thorough search of the aircraft and terminal but no evidence of an explosive device was found.

EARLIER 2PM: Queenstown Airport in New Zealand has reportedly been evacuated amid reports of a bomb threat on a Qantas plane.

Details remain sketchy at this stage however it’s understood some sort of message about a bomb was discovered on a Qantas plane which had arrived at the airport from Sydney.

It’s understood a cleaner found the note on Qantas flight QF121 around 3pm local time after passengers had already disembarked from the plane.
