New Zealand’s been woken to fresh lockdown restrictions once again after a new mystery case of coronavirus emerged.
A 21-year-old man developed symptoms on Tuesday and may have been infectious since last Sunday, prompting authorities to place Auckland into a strict seven-day lockdown.
The rest of the country will reenter level 2 restrictions for the week, starting this morning.

Contact tracing efforts have so far been unable to link the new infection to the existing cluster in the city’s south, which is concerning authorities.
Director-General of Health Doctor Ashley Bloomfield says they’re also concerned that the man failed to isolate while waiting for his test result.
“My understanding is they visited the GP in the afternoon, and had the test, and then the information I had is that they went to the gym after that test,” Doctor Bloomfield said.
