A strong earthquake has struck off New Zealand’s coast.
The 6.5 magnitude quake struck just after 7.00pm Tuesday local time, rattling the south end of the South Island.
According to Geoscience Australia, the quake could have been felt by people up to 757km away.

Local media said the quake was followed by two tremors near Seddon on Wednesday morning.
There have been no reports of an injuries or damage.
