Ms Ardern, 38, became leader of New Zealand in 2017, and is the world’s youngest female head of government.

She also became only the second woman in history to give birth to a child while in power, when she and Mr Gayford, 41, welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Neve, last June.

Mr Gayford is a well-known radio and TV presenter in New Zealand.
