New Zealand PM joins National Cabinet to discuss trans-Tasman travel

The National Cabinet meets again today to discuss the further easing of nationwide restrictions, though they’ll be joined by a special guest.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern will take a place in the meeting with Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison and the state and territory leaders, to discuss possible joint responses.

It’s understood one proposal being considered is the “Trans Tasman Bubble”, which could see international travel restrictions ease between Australia and New Zealand.

Though travel to other countries is still off the table for now.

They’re also expected to discuss Australia’s CovidSafe app, with New Zealand trying to roll out something similar as well.

The meeting is taking place via video conference today.

Just a thought, but maybe NZ could use the same same app as Aus?
It is already developed, travelers can use the same app in both places and shared data for contact tracing … win win.
