A newborn baby has tragically died after being attacked by the family dog at a home on the NSW Central Coast early this morning.
Emergency crews were called to a house at Kariong around 2.20am, following reports of a baby being mauled by a dog.
Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and immediately began CPR on the five-week-old baby boy.

Despite their desperate attempts, the baby could not be revived and died at the scene.
NSW Police said the infant’s parents were home at the time of the attack, with no other persons at the property.
A crime scene has been established, however, officers confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.
The dog, which is owned by the family, has been secured.
