Her birth weight is similar to that of a six-month-old and double the country’s average.
Tests have been carried out on her 20-year-old mother, but have come back clear of diabetes, something that can contribute to an infant’s weight.
A baby boy, born in November last year, previously held the record for the heaviest newborn, at 6.7kg.
But they both come in well under the world’s heaviest child who was born in Italy in 1955 and tipped the scales at an incredible 10.2kg.
