Newmarch House resident dies after recovering from COVID-19

A resident of Sydney’s troubled Newmarch House nursing home who had recently recovered from coronavirus, has died.

In a statement, Anglicare said the resident had previously tested positive for COVID-19, but had returned two negative tests before they passed away.

“We are devastated at the passing of this loved resident and extend our sympathies to the family as they grieve their loss,” Anglicare said.

It’s the second resident of the nursing home to have died after recovering, following the death of a woman in her 90s on the weekend.

Health officials say the woman died from an unrelated illness.

A total of 37 residents and 32 staff at Newmarch have contracted the virus while sixteen residents have died.
